When Easter Becomes More Than Just a Sunday

I remember once being out on an early morning walk, seeing the sunrise and being reminded of that first Easter morning when Mary Magdalene made her way to Jesus' tomb in the dark. She wasn't planning for a resurrection – she was going to anoint a dead body. But God had other plans.

Have you ever noticed how the resurrection stories in the gospels are filled with people running?

🏃‍♀️ Mary runs from the empty tomb
🏃‍♂️ Peter and John race to see for themselves
🏃‍♀️ The women rush to tell the disciples

They weren't just excited – they were transformed from mourners into missionaries in a matter of moments.

"Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: 'I have seen the Lord!'" (John 20:18)

Here's what strikes me: The resurrection wasn't just an event they celebrated – it was a reality that changed how they lived. They didn't go back to business as usual. They became witnesses.

  • The resurrection isn't just history – it's an invitation to mission
  • The first witnesses were ordinary people who simply shared what they'd seen
  • Their testimony started a movement that's still multiplying today

This week, I want to challenge you (and myself) with this question: What if we treated the resurrection not as an annual celebration, but as our daily commission?

  1. Share your own "I have seen the Lord" moment with someone this week
  2. Ask God to show you one person who needs to hear about the hope of resurrection
  3. Look for signs of God's resurrection power in your everyday life

Let's make this Easter more than just a Sunday – let's let it launch us into mission.

I'd love to hear: What does resurrection power look like in your daily life?
